Rural Fire Subscription

By request from the City of Milan Mayor and the Milan Board of Alderman the Milan Fire Department will be reinstituting the Milan Fire Department Rural Fire Service Program.

The Rural Fire Service Program is offered to residents who live outside (up to 3½ miles) the City Limits of Milan. This service provides that if you have a fire on your property the Milan Fire Department would respond to your emergency. Currently if you live outside the city limits of the City of Milan and do not have a rural fire service contract with Milan Fire Department then you are covered by the Gibson County Fire Dept., which is comprised of mostly volunteers. The Milan Fire Department is a full time paid department and is staffed 24/7. If you opt in to using the Milan Fire Department Rural Fire Service Program and you have a fire on your property the Milan Fire Department will immediately respond along with the Gibson County Fire Dept.

The cost of the Milan Fire Rural Fire Service Program is $100 per year for residential occupancies and $200 per year for commercial and/or assembly occupancies.  Payments must be submitted with a signed contract, and in the event that you do have a fire, the City of Milan will bill the property owner $1000 per incident for residential and/or $1500 for commercial/assembly occupancy.

You are advised to check with your insurance (Home Owners) company concerning this service. Depending on your insurance carrier, some premium savings may be available if you take advantage of the Milan Fire Department Rural Fire Service Program.

Contract forms may be picked up at the Milan City Hall located at 1061 S Main St. Contract forms will only be mailed to out of state property owners. The start date of this service will be July 1st 2016 and you will be required to renew each year to continue this service.

If you have any questions concerning the Milan Fire Department Rural Fire Service Program you can call the Fire Chief Office at (731)686-0441.
